Hello everyone

Just to add my contribution to the discussions regarding the court case in
California and the ruling that ferrets have not been determined as wild
animals ...

It is a well know fact that ferrets are a purely domestic species, and have
not been 'wild' since the days of the Roman Empire (if not longer). I think
that anyone involved in determining legal rulings who should even entertain
the likelyhood that Mustela Putorius Furo is anything but a domesticated
species should be the ones to be put down - not the ferrets ! Maybe it is
about time that a few people in high places did their homework. They cannot
even be classed as a 'feral' animal since the average ferret has an expected
lifespan of at most three to four weeks if left to fend in the wild on its
own without a ready source of food... And as an aside - are Hamsters illegal
in California ... ? Because they are a wild species ... Maybe all hamsters
should be put down while they are at it ???!!! Not to mention budgerigars,
tropical fish ...

Oh well that's the rant over - back to sane mode ... The bottom line is
that if people do their homework there is NO WAY that the ferret can be
determined a 'wild' species ...
