Thor is having a problem with his right eye. For the past couple days, we
noticed that it was shut, or shutting when we picked him up (almost as if
he's squinting). There's been some watering, and I couldn't tell if it was
swollen or not. He hasn't seemed quite up to snuff, though he's eating just
fine (gained .2 kg in the last month), pooping fine, just not playing very
much - preferring to wander a bit, then crawl into his basket and curl up.

I brought him to the vet yesterday, she said there is some swelling and
perhaps a bit of cloudiness. She did an eye stain which showed nothing
unusual (no cornea scratch or anything like that). She looked in his mouth
and thought there might be some swelling in there, on the right side also.
She's not sure what the problem is, if it's an abcess that's putting
pressure on the eye, thus causing him to tear and squint, or an infection
(basically is the eye the problem or the result of some other problem?).

She's put him on Clavamox to see if it's some sort of infection. She said
if there's been no improvement in 2-3 days, we'll have to look further,
perhaps taking him to a vet opthamologist.

So far, there's been no improvement (I know - it's only been one day).
Anyone else have any dealings with a problem like this? Are there other
signs/things I should be looking for? He's otherwise healthy, no ear mites,
normal temp, no runny nose or sneezing.

Thanks.

Amy
