Thank you all for your advice and support. I brought Rocky to a new and
more experienced vet today and got good news.

Rocky's glucose was normal, and this vet gave him the best examination
he's ever had. Though he said the hind leg weakness could be the
beginning stages of insulinoma, he also said it could also be arthritis
or trauma if he fell from somewhere. He said I should just keep an eye
on him and see if there are any changes. If I want I can take him up
for periodic glucose checks. I really felt that this vet knew his
stuff, so I was relieved. Finally I've found a vet I can trust, who
only works on exotics. Plus he's on-call all the time.

I also discovered that, like me, Rocky prefers the subway to taxis. The
taxi ride up was hell--stop and go--and cost $22. Rocky was scratching
and biting at the bars the whole time. So on the way back I decided to
walk to the subway. I had to take two subways, with a lot of walking
and stairs in between, but that was good for Rocky because he doesn't
like being in any moving vehicle for too long, so the break between
trains was good. And the cost is only $2.

I know I will have to deal with Rocky's illness as he ages. But for
now, at least I have hope that he'll be around a little longer and
will get good treatment when he needs it. When you live alone and have
only one ferret, it's so hard to even think of losing him--my little
angel/clown. I have never been so enchanted with an animal before.
They're so special.

Best of health to all your furkids.

Shron & Rocky
