I can't begin to tell you all, I am completely blown away from all the
emails I've received from all of you, I have not had the chance to even
sit down to read them as of yet, as I'm in denial, somewhat, or was
untill today when I took my baby to be cremeated. It was the hardest
thing I've ever done, but for me, I know its the right destion, as I
want him here with me forever....

I've owned ferrets, for over 18 t years, and although I have loved them
all, I had always had two at a time, and with Scooter, I chose to be
his only companion, as I knew I could be with him day in and day out,
so I was his other ferret so to speak, needless to say, the bond was
the most incredible bond I have ever had with any animal, or person
for that matter, and that includes my ex husband! Scooter was the most
beautiful ferret I have ever seen, I know everyone feels that way
about their ferret, but he was a beautful silvermit with a bright pink
nose...he was also the smartest ferret I have ever owned in over 18yrs,
he knew the meaning to well over fifty words, loved to go bye bye in
the car, opened the fridge if it was open a crack, and would pull
things of the shelves...he knew how to jump for a treat, when I said
jump scooter, goodies, roll over, ect.ect. In fact I said often, that
if he started talking one day, it would not surprise me... we shared
licks of a fudgeicle, a little activia yogurt, we shared everything...
never nipped or bit or anything, he was unbeleivable.... when I first
got scooter, and this is why he was my little miracle, he actually at
just 4 months old, managed to end up 3 apartments down, without lgoing
through the door on a near ninety degree day, he some how in no time
flat, got right through the wall in back near my sofa, which must have
been mase of papermashe or something, I saw the hole going into the
ladys apartment next door, mind you in less than 10 minutes, so here I
am throwing his jingle ball toy into the ladys living room floor trying
to find him and freaking out doesn't begin to explain, I even called
the fire dept, make a long story short, imagine flipping your sunday
pancakes, and hearing a jingle noise, his collar, turning around and
seeing a baby ferret doing a little war dance jig.... unbelievable to
say the least, and the man 3 doors down , mike, wondering how on earth,
when his door was closed did this cute little thing appear from no
where? Needless to say, he burnt his pancakes that morning, and with
the grace of god, I got him back just by a chance, because he didn't
know me and your not supposed to even have ferrets here, rediculouse
rule, to allow pets but not ferrets?

Anyway THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH, AND YOU TO BILL, you're a sweetheart!!!
My first instinct was to unsubscribe, to the lists, because its
painfull right now, but I can't, because I love you guys, and I will
eventually have another one, not like scooter I'm sure, but never the
less I can't imagine being without for long.... plus I can maybe help
someone going through something I'm familiar with, so I will be
lurking, and let you know when I get another little guy... in the mean
time, if you live in the mass. or NH. Area, avoid this vet that is a
floater, working in different hospitals all over this area ,who is
supposed to be an expert. Since I can't mention her name, feel free
to email me privately, and spread the word on avoiding her, she had
me fooled into caring for about a year.......

thank you all again, as I'm not quite up to answering all individually
right now.......Deb
