The primary reason for most base commanders not allowing it is that there
some people, like my mom, who are allergic to musk.  Also, when I talked to
the base vice commander here, I was told that some residents don't or can't
control the smell in the house.  Since the homes have to be used by others,
he doesn't want to have those who follow to have to have this odor.
 
I can personally tell you.  I used to let my kids roam in my bedroom.
Last time, I visited my mother, I very definitely noticed the odor on my
clothes.  It is similar to a non-smoker being in a smoker's house.  (no
offense intended to smokers)
