There are mail-order companies that sell veterinary products at prices MUCH
lower than most vets charge. For prescription medications, you need to
have your vet fax or mail the prescription to them before they will ship
your order.

Two of these companies I've used are Doctors Foster & Smith
(drsfostersmith.com, 800-826-7206), located in Wisconsin, and KV Vet Supply
(800 located in Nebraska. I recently ordered Heartguard and Advantage (for
my dog & cat) for less than half of what they would have cost through my
vet. My vet wasn't too happy about this, but, what can I say... Many of
us have to try to save money where we can. If the difference in cost
wasn't so drastic, in fact, I would still buy these products through my
vet, to show my support and goodwill.

And please note that I am NOT advocating treating ferrets or any animals
without professional veterinary care. I'm only recommending this as a
way to save money on prescribed medications and other supplies.
