>Subject: Ferret Ear Biting

Gunther started doing this last year. He only picked on Ozzie, but he was
getting really mean and a couple of times we did see a little blood. He
seemed to do it more when he didn't get out of the cage as much as usual.

In the end though, we decided that it was part of his adrenal problems. He
was showing a number of aggressive and sexual behaviors. So I guess my
questions is is Aleyeska losing any hair on his tail?

Gunther, by the way, had an adrenal gland removed about a month ago. His
hair is mostly in and he's gained a ton of weight. He's much more like his
old self again. He's playing more and gives lots of post-linotone kisses.
But I think he OD'd on chicken baby food after the surgery. He used to love
it, but now he wants NOTHING to do with it. I'm going to have to start
getting him used to some other kind of emergency food in case he gets sick
again.

I can't thank this list too much for saving my little baby boy, but I'll
try. Thanks everyone. I never would have been able to recognize the
symptoms, or find a good vet without all I've learned from you guys.

Norris (for the usual crowd, Mark, Nico, Gunther, Ozzie, and Miranda
the cat)

P.S. The cat and fuzzies are doing pretty well now. The cat is using her
claws on us less and doesn't seem to be using them on the ferts at all (hard
to tell though). Primarily, she just seems frustrated that she doesn't
understand the rules for all these ferret games. Their time together is
still strictly supervised.
