Breaking in a ferret with a dog

How would anyone recommend breaking in a new dog with a ferret.  I have a
six month old ferret and just brought home a two year old shepard/labrador
from the animal shelter.  I haven't let the two run around yet, but I
wanted to know the best way to break them in together.  The ferret seems
unafraid of the dog (so far), and the dog seems interested in the ferret,
but I'm afraid to let them out in a room together right now.  Any ideas
of how I can do this?
