Greetings to everyone,

First and foremost, my condolences go out to those of you who have
recently lost a fuzzbutt.

Also, I wanted to give my sincere thanks to those of you who gave me such
great advice and encouragement during Peanut's illness. I am happy to
report that he has made a total turnaround. I dont think I've posted
since before the Fourth of July, but at that point I was still syringe
feeding him 3-4 times a day. Somewhere around that Saturday or Sunday,
Heather was able to get him to eat on his own. After that we
supplemented him a little with the syringe, but then he did the most
miraculous thing...he started eating hard food on his own again! We were
so excited! Actually, it started with Cheerios. I let him eat as many
as he wanted b/c I just wanted him to eat. Then he started eating
ProPlan kitten food (he hates the Iams) and we've gradually cut the
Cheerios back. I am still feeding him a pureed mush of kitten food,
water and boiled chicken, mixed with a little heavy cream. He is
gradually eating less of that and more of the hard food. He is doing
tremendously! He chases the cats and tools around the house with
supervision. He is done with his antibiotics.

On Monday July 8th, we took him back to the vet to have him weighed.
Mind you, he had been to the vet on July 1st and weighed 20 ounces. One
week later, he weighed 26 ounces! He has noticeably filled out, his
bones dont jut out like they did before.

After taking him to the vet, we took him to PetSmart in his blue harness
and leash and he literally RAN around the store! You couldnt tell he had
been at death's door a week earlier. Then we bought him a little fleece
bed and put him in it in the front of the cart and he rode around like he
was a king. I really didnt think Peanut was going to live. I hoped it,
but I had to be realistic too. On July 4th, I had a conversation with
him, just me and him where I told him that if he had to go, I wanted him
to go. I would be sad but I would understand. He looked at me like he
understood. But he stayed and we are so glad.

Peanut was included in the prayer list at our church for Sunday's and
Thursday's service that week. It was kind of funny to hear the pastor
say, "prayers for so-and-so for their surgery, prayers for so-and-so for
their safe travel, prayers for Peanut...". :)

Anyway, I am grateful for this list and the caring people on it, who took
time out to help me with Peanut. God Bless each and every one of you!
