Sonia,

>help:( They are always so far away from me. I live in Portland Or.

There are 100's, if not 1000's of ferret owners here in Portland!

The Oregon Ferret Association is a group of ferret owners mainly from
Portland and Oregon (and a few international members too!). The OFA is a
non-profit organization that "informs and educates the public of the
pleasures and responsibilities of owning, providing proper care for ferrets
as pets, follows pending legislation which may affect ferrets, and keeps up
with current and new medical issues affecting ferrets."

>many people from my area own them. We went to a ferret show that some

But you haven't missed the Fun Match! The Oregon Ferret Association's 12th
annual Ferret Fun Match will be held next weekend, September 12th! More
information on the Fun Match will be posted on the FML in the next day or
so. In the meantime, you can get information from our newly-revamped web
site: http://www.oregon-ferret.org or call us at 503-306-2968.

The Cascade Ferret Network is a great place to start looking for a ferret
in Portland! The network operates on the concept of just keeping a few
shelter ferrets under one roof. This provides a "private home environment"
where shelter animals receive the same high level of care and attention
given to the owner's pets. They can be found at
http://www.cascade-ferret.org or 503-231-0887.

Good luck in your search for more fuzzies and hope to see you at the Fun
Match.
