Hi fellow ferret friends!!
Here are some suggestions for those of you that have ferrets that dig in the
food dish or litter box.

DIGGING FOOD OUT OF FOOD DISH??
My ferrets love to do this! (Especailly Miss Rascal...
but she refuses to eat off the floor!)

Solution: Set the food dish on the lid of one of those plastic storage tubs.
The lid works great because the sides are built up a little (a small ridge
around the edge) so that all the food dug out of the dish remains on the
lid. It keeps the food in one area and I have no problem with waste because
even Miss Rascal will eat off the lid! I did get a fairly large size (I
believe it was the 15 quart storage tub...or something like that).

Oh yeh, then one side of the tub can be cut down and used as a high back
litter box!!! Perfect for ferrets that "go" over the edge of normal size
litter pans!! :) =20

DIGGING LITTER OUT OF THE BOX???
My problem was solved by an idea shared by Troy Lynn Teckart (FFS)!! Thanks
Troy Lynn!! :) Try using Depends Chair protector pads. They can be cut in
half and I place them in the litter boxes in place of litter!! My fuzzballs
love them! They are very absorbant and feel much better on the feet than
litter!!! In fact I have noticed an increase in the litter box hit rate and
less little ferret surprises around the house!! The pads are just like a
diaper with a plastic back so clean up is EXTREMELY easy!! Just roll up the
pad and expose--no need to scoop and scrub! (My guys have no interest in
chewing or tearing these up...but I would urge everyone to watch their
ferret at first just to make sure.)

Just thought we would share some of our successes!
Hugs -n- Dooks!
Deana (Bear,Bandit, Gizmo, & Rascal)
