I have a 2yr old female who woke me up last night (4 am) throwing up.
Someone has thrown up a couple of times recently but I didn't know who
because she lives with another ferret. Well, last night I woke up to the
sound of her throwing up and when I looked in her cage I saw some food on
the towels and in their bowl that had been chewed and then spit back up.
When I watched her though, I saw her body heave like she was going to throw
up but nothing came out. She did seem to be mouthing something though.
Anyways, she was drinking water and still trying to eat and I think she is
still pooping. When she finished with her little episode(about 5 minutes),
she drank some water and went back to sleep. I called the vet to ask him
what he thought and he said to try 8-10 drops of Pepto-Bismol every 6 hours
for a day or so to see if she gets better, but she hates the medicine.
Could it just be hairballs or does this sound like an intestinal blockage?
She doesn't throw anything up except the food that she just ate. If anyone
could e-mail me at [log in to unmask] I would greatly appreciate it as I don't
always have time to read the whole fml. Thanks in advance.
