Mookie (3 1/2, neutered male) had recently developed a sort of lump on his
chest. It's about 1/4" across, maybe 1/16" thick, kind of looks like a
scab. It's definitely in the skin, not the muscle, and doesn't seem to
cause him any pain or itching. It started off pinkish a few weeks ago and
we though it might be a bug bite, but it hasn't improved, although it
doesn't seem to have gotten any worse. He's otherwise in good health.

We're going in to the vet next week for a regular visit, but I was wondering
if anyone might have an idea. We're thinking either a mast-cell tumor,
possibly melanoma, or it might be a wart, or just a slow-healing cut or
something.

Surgery to remove it will be about $100 (Cdn) and a histology, if necessary,
another $100. With 4 ferrets getting a little older, we don't want to spend
a lot of money unless absolutely necessary.

I'd appreciate an opinion from one or more of our FML vets, if you have the
time. Thanks in advance.
