Hello everyone,
 
Ferret owner Joe Kouri appeared today on the steps of the State Capitol with
Winston, his ferret, and neither Joe, nor Winston, were cited or arrested.
Winston wasn't even confiscated!
 
There were about half a dozen ferret enthusiasts with signs, which were
confiscated, and about the same number of media.  Ferret supporters were
threatened with being cited for an illegal gathering but not for the
presence of Winston.
 
I think this should tell Californians that DFG is afraid of a legal
confrontation on this issue because they know they are wrong!  If their
regulation has merit, why are they afraid to enforce it?  It's such a same
that this agency doesn't have the moral strength to do the right thing and
delete the domesticated ferret from the State's list of prohibited wildlife.
Someday ferrets will be legalized and apparently the agency doesn't care how
ridiculous they look trying to stop the inevitable.
 
Keep posted to the CFL website to find out more about how Winston and Joe
plan to press the issue.  They promise to fight until ferrets are legal in
California.
