Buffie, I am so sorry.  It sounds like he may have had Juvenile Lymphoma.
That is always such a hard thing to encounter.  It's what took our Helix
years ago.  JL is a very rapid terminal disease.  I am so sorry that you
and your little sweetheart had to meet it.  You did the right thing.
