I will only speak for myself, who is a shelter surrounded by various
military bases and one city that outlaws ferrets. The choices I make on
who to adopt to are based on experience. I get many ferrets turned in by
military people who are now moving on base. Maybe these people didn't have
the gumption to go and get a special waiver like you did. I will suggest
that to them. Even though I had two back to back returns on ferrets that
I adopted to a military family living off base, it still didn't make me to
NEVER adopt to any Military family. I just question them more thoroughly.
But if they are on base, no way. Now you got permission because of your
ferrets being existing pets. But new ones coming in wouldn't be included
correct?

Nothing breaks my heart more than to have a ferret(s) I've adopted out
come back. Because that means in their little lives, they've been in a
home/shelter/home/shelter and sometimes even more. It just isn't far to
the ferret. We look out for the ferrets first and for most. That means
we step on humans toes sQSBmimes. We all use our best judgement, based
on experience and our gut.

I'm glad your able to have your kids on base. Maybe use that as an
educational tool to get them to allow ferrets as they do dogs and cats.
