Perhaps many ferret owners have heard of the ferret featured short film
that was released in 2011, Jake and Jasper: A Ferret Tale. Directed
by Alison Parker, and starring one of her own pets ferrets (who also
happens to be an established professional actor) the film released to
world wide approval.

Alison Parker decided to take that enthusiasm, and channel it into a
project that would do more than entertain. She wanted to raise the
public's awareness of what kind of pets ferrets really are (as opposed
to the slanderous media coverage you usually see) AND spotlight the
importance of ferret shelters and rescues, and their need of community
support. Additionally, the movie draws attention to a subject ferret
owners are all too aware of - the anti-ferret legislation in
California.

This is the premise for her new film, The Ferret Squad. It is about a
boy who moves to Cali with his pet ferret, and must fight for what he
loves. It is family friendly, thoughtful, carries a great message -
and features ferrets being ferrets. What more could anyone ask for?

But indie films aren't financed with Hollywood funds. Movies take a
lot of time and money to produce, and The Ferret Squad will be a full
length feature film. The only way Alison can begin production of this
film is through the support of the ferret community. So, as she did
with Jake and Jasper, Ms. Parker is running a fundraising campaign to
finance the film.

No, she isn't 'getting rich' doing this. Her motivations are not about
money. As a director, Alison would love to live in California. But she
has two ferrets of her own that she adores, and will not yield them to
heartless and unjustifiable laws. And to show her support in the fight
against Fish and Game, she is donating 5% of the donations to
LegalizeFerrets.org. Everything not donated directly to the fight for
ferrets will go into making this film.

If you can, if you are willing, please consider donating to this
campaign. It doesn't have to be a lot. Every little bit helps. Your
donations will not only help Parker make this movie, but also help an
organization that fights everyday for the rights of California ferret
owners. And through this movie, more people can be educated about
ferrets, shelters and rescues, and why they should be legalized.

Visit The Ferret Squad campaign page on Indiegogo at
http://www.indiegogo.com/theferretsquad. Even a donation as small
as $8 comes with some nice perks! Or visit them on Facebook at
http://www.facebook.com/TheFerretSquad
There you can find an auction for interesting, hard to find, and
one-of-a-kind merchandise that you can bid on as a contribution
as well.

The campaign is nearing its deadline, and we're a long way off
from reaching our goal. We have until June 10th to raise $33,000.

Aren't we tired of the bad reputations negative media has given our
precious fuzzies? These prejudices will not just go away on their own.
We must show everyone why ferrets are deservedly the third most popular
pet in the United States. Please support this movie. As a street team
member, I would not be sending out this plea to you if I didn't believe
100% in what Alison Parker is trying to achieve.
