Did the ferret have exposure to anything known to cause such problems?
For kidneys, many raisins at one time comes to mind. For livers,
acetaminophen such as Tylenol certainly does that to ferrets. (Here's a
shocker: according to page 44 in the May 2006 Consumer Reports taking too
much acetaminophen is now the leading cause of human acute liver failure
in the U.S., usually accidently by taking multiple meds containing it
since over 600 over the counter medications now contain it. If any part
of that startled you, join the club)

Are you have a pathology and toxicology done along with the necropsy?
They are highly recommended in such situations.

I am very sorry for your loss.

I got a note from someone who for some reason seemed to think that my
saying that I am tired of the merry-go-round portions of a long (2 month)
conversation would carry some power beyond that of others who have wsaid
the same thing. Nope. Not so. I am *NOT* a moderator here, and I make
no decisions for the FML. I am just a member here, the same as everyone
else except Bill Gruber who is the moderator. So, I rate no more and no
less highly than others. Having anyone make the incorrect assumption
that I rate any more highly than anyone else in relation to such opinions
puts me into a very awkward position because it actually would reduce my
chance to express the same sorts of opinions that others can express, if
I had to adjust myself according to another's mistaken concept.

I greatly enjoy new info and new spin-off topics, but it seems like some
opinions have been repeated by one or more people most days during the
last two months, and for me that level of repetition has just become
overpowering and frankly also tiresome. Yes, I know I can scroll, and
usually now I do, but I also can say when I would prefer new topics for
a while, the same as anyone else can.
