It's funny how you can know someone for so long and not know important
things about them. One of our friends, Ross, whom we've known since the
beginning of high school, was chatting with us on IRC the other day, and as
usual, I was going on about how wonderful and amusing and exasperating all 5
rugrats are, and he mentions that he's had 5 ferrets (and now only has 1
really old one)!!! I immediately verbally bonked him on the head and
demanded to know why he hadn't told us --- he said, "Well, you never asked!"

So we talked about our respective babies, and he mentioned that his favorite
among the 5 was a strange looking ferret, who was whitish and had brown
spots all over. The rest of his were either sable or silver mitts. Has
anyone else ever encountered a spotted ferret, or are they an imaginary
subspecies (Mustelid spotticus)??
