To L. Detweiler,

After several unsuccessful and inconvenient attempts to keep
the ferrets out of the kitchen, we found a not very attractive
but convenient and effective solution. We use tape to cover
the space between the kitchen and the kitchen floor (so they
can't crawl under the fridge) and various nooks we don't
want them to crawl into. For bigger spaces (like between
the refridgerator and stove) we put chicken wire covered
with a sheet of aluminum foil (just bend a large enough
piece in the area - pressure keeps it in place and it is
easily removable).

As I said, not a very beautiful solution, but it sure
beats tripping over cardboard.

-Cindy
