Thanks for bringing up this topic! I have long been wondering what
different vets charge for different things.

FIRST let me say that I am not flaming any vet for their prices - - I
believe they charge what they charge and it's up to us to deal with it or
look further or whatever. Also, just let me say that I have, and will,
always somehow find a way to pay for whatever my ferrets, or cats, or dog,
might need, so don't flame me either! <G>

David, I lived on LI near you until just recently. I went to a pretty
decent vet in Freeport. He charged me $23 for a quick checkup, and
distemper shot, per ferret.

He also charged $275 for the removal of a large nasty mast-cell tumor. This
was a lot for me, but I was willing to pay it. Seemed like a lot, though.
Now I am in CT. I took a ferret to a well-known animal center who wanted
$750-825 for adrenal surgery, including blood tests and ultrasound. Now
this seemed too much! I was referred by FACT to another vet, who I liked a
lot, who quoted a $250-$350 range for the same thing.

Sooooo.....what do y'all usually pay for adrenal surgery? checkups? shots?
I'd be very curious.

Kat
