Hello All - Dooks

I have to be honest for years I hated Ferrets. I knew nothing about them,
heard alot of bad things about them, and never even tried to find out more.

It wasn't til I statred volunteering at our local shelter, that I was
exposed to ferrets. I love animals, and well, it sure look cute. So I
touched it, carefully. I asked alot of questions about them to the staff,
who was in love with this ferret. He had alot of health issues. They
tried for months to save him. The staff would all pledge money for the vet
care and the shelter matched it. After months of trying, months of loving
him, months of everyone taking turns fostering him, so he wouldn't sit in a
cage at a shelter. It happened. Either watch him die in pain, or the ones
that loved him most - gather and euth him - In Love.

It was the saddest day I had seen at the shelter. Everyone in tears,
trying desperatly to continue their work. Many just making it through
the day.

There has been many more ferrets that have come thru the shelter doors, I
have loved and played with them all. Most of them were sick, starving ,
and left by owners that knew nothing of ferrets, couldn't afford them, or
didn't care.

So began my love for ferrets. They are so mis-understood. I know, I was
one of them. I now rescue ferrets, place them in loving homes. Ok, Ok,
alot I keep, cause I fall in love. I am now trying to find ways to educate
people - though I know very little myself. But, I have to start somewhere.
This list and the people on it are the best, I have learned so much, and
you have all shared so much.

For our babies, fuzzies, carpet snakes, fur butts, and what ever else we
nick name them, we must support one another. We are a very small few that
love and understand our babies, dedicated to their care, and their life.
