It is possible to have a false positive with the Heska feline ab
heartworm test.  I would recommend running the Idexx SNAP ELISA for
heartworm antigens.  The other option is to have the heart ultrasounded
to look for the heartworms.  Yes, ferrets can get heartworms from
mesquito bites just like dogs.
