This is a bit off topic but I lost the address to the person wanting info.
I'm not a GSP expert, I know a few and they are very nice dogs - generally
quite "soft" in personality.  A harsh word goes a long way.  However soft
they are though their breed type usually does not make them great obedience
candidates and I would take it super slow and more importantly I would
probably not ever feel as comfortable as with some breeds.  You just don't
know when that hunting thing is going to kick in..  That said - there are
certainly breeds that make me feel even more uncomfortable and its been
done with some of those - so give it a shot but be very careful and do it
sloooowly with lots of positive reinforcement.  (Example - every time the
dog ignores the ferret after being attentive to it immediately give it a
treat and a good dog).
