Nail clipping and bleeding

Simple question.  What can I use to stop bleeding at the nails if clipped
to short?  Lily sqrimed while clipping hin nails and it got clipped to
short.  This time we were lucky, it stopped fairly quickly with only a
little blood loss.  But in case this ever happens again, what can i use
besides pressure?  First time in 10 years this has happened.  thanks
