I ADD: I know that the salt some put down on driveways and walkways can
be a terrible irritant for small dogs, and rabbits.  I had a beagle once
who would scream from running through the salt.  We would have to lift
him out and wash his feet immediately if he got salt on them.  I would
think it is for ferrets also.  I'm intreagued by the idea of a ferret
frolicking in the snow though.
