This is from about 7 years ago, but still brings a big smile to my face
every time I think about it. It was also my mom's first "grandferret"
visit, so she shares this story any time she talks about my ferrets.

My first pair of ferrets were a wonderful introduction to the world of
ferrets in general. They were highly entertaining & very well behaved.
The only thing was, they preferred the dogs food, so they developed
tactics to steal as much dog food as possible & stash it away. They
played many ferret/dog games together (distracting the dog while the
other one stole food). The funniest of which was, "jump, bite, and hang
on to the dogs throat." Tequila had this one perfected. So my dog would
approach her food bowl, Tequila would run and jump at the dogs throat &
if lucky enough to get a hold, would just hang. The dog, uncertain of
what just really happened would stand perfectly still with a ferret
hanging from her neck. If you were at the right angle, she looked like
she was wearing a fur necklace! My dog was fabulous with the ferrets.
Once while very hungry (I guess), she actually picked Tequila up from her
food bowl and set her down next to her cage. She was very slow, gentle &
deliberate in her actions, never did a thing to hurt the ferrets. I got
the hint & caged Tequila so the dog could eat in peace.

Actually, I have another funny story. I was attempting to get my ferrets
used to another type of food (I have successfully combined 4). I had
actually run low on food and filled ferret food bowls with Marshall's
food on my way out the door for work. When I got home, the food dishes
were empty. The litter box was full...of Marshall's ferret food.
Needless to say, I don't buy it anymore.

Hope I was able to offer a few smiles with my stories!

Holly
