My son came up with a great idea to keep the ferrets out of the garage,
but still let the cats get to their food and litter box. We took a
cardboard tube, cut it to fit the width of the door and then cut it
lengthwise. We then opened the lengthwise cut enough to place the tube
on top of the baby gate. No matter how hard "da boys" try to climb and
get over they cannot because, the round top is too hard to get their
claws in to and they cannot get over.

Yesterday I had a little short end table that I brought in from the
garage. I set it about 1 1/2 feet from the baby gate. Frankie and
Poncho kept trying to leap from the table to the top of the baby gate to
get into the garage. Needless to say they gave up and went to find
trouble elsewhere.
