When I made the decision to let Nexus go after a long battle with
insulinoma, I decided to go to the local vet instead of driving the
45 minutes to the ferret specialist. I really didn't want to have to
think about it that long.

I have to say the vet and his staff couldn't have been any nicer or
more compassionate. He said he does not inject into a vein on a ferret.
He just injected Nexus under the skin and left me alone with him. I
held him and he went peacefully in my arms in under 10 minutes. He did
not suffer at all. Then the vet came back in and checked him to make
sure he was gone.

For such an agonizing thing to go through, making the decision, and
then the visit to the vet, I think this way was the best. I got to
hold him and talk to him.
