This thread of posts made me smile and brought back some memories....

Two years ago my son turned twelve and had some birthday gift cash burning
a hole in his pocket. He had pretty much decided to buy a CD player, but
then spotted some ferret kits at a local petstore. We have a pet-friendly
household (well actually pet-saturated) but he knew he was going to have to
convince Mom and Dad before bringing home something new and very different.
He broached the subject at dinner, pleading, begging, and bombarding us
with facts in that way kids do so well. Across the table my husband looked
at me and winked. Our son didn't know it but he wasn't the first one in
the family to have an interest in ferrets. Many, many years ago we had
fallen for the wonderful Kodo and Podo in the movie Beastmaster. But we
were a young 80's couple, dual careers, first mortgage, new baby.....and
some wise person suggested that we wait before adding a ferret to our
lives. Well, it seemed our wait was over, and it didn't take long for our
son to "convince" us that we needed a ferret. That very evening Rascal
came home to live with us, followed soon by Snookums, CocoaPuff, Bruno,
Toes, Indy,etc.....you get the picture.
