Hello Melissa,
 
I really think your vet should consider a spinal compression injury..
Many times it is hard to see these on xray.
 
We have seen several of these in our time-- the ones treated aggressively
folowing the injury regained the mobility, those not treated immediately
never regained the loss.
 
With quiet, steroid therapy and a gradual rehab ( water therapy etc.)
ferrets can gain back mobility in compression injury cases.
 
This would be my FIRST concern.
