I post a rather complete description of colors here every now and then.
Guees its getting about time again.  I'll work something up.  But for
yours...
 
very dark as in blackish brown?  (very few are true black and they almost
always have mitts) That color is sable.  I'm guess you mean a horizontal
stripe (cheek to cheek) that is part of the mask definition.
 
If you meant a vertical stripe (nose to back) that is a blaze.
 
The basic patterns are solid, standard and color point.  The difference
between them is the amount of contrast between the legs and torso.  Very
little to none is a solid.  A moderate amount of contrast is standard.  And
a great deal of contrast is a color point (also called Siamese - my personal
favorite)
 
There is a web page on colors that I wrote for the AFA.  My updates are
not up last I checked while pictures get added.  I haven't found one at
any other site yet.
