Only about 10% of lymphomas show abnormal cells in the blood (leukemia).
Most are pretty silent until very close to the end - if it helps, I've
had two of my own die "suddenly" and I have autopsied them only to find
lymphoma in multiple organs.
 
It is a silent killer, and you should have no guilt that it sneaked up on
you.
