From their ad in the current issue of Inc. magazine, "New York City wants
your business." Thought this was kinda punny since they don't seem to want
your group of ferrets.

THE MAYOR'S PUBLIC HEARING IS THIS MONDAY
The public (that's you!) is invited to speak at this hearing and make
their wishes known to the Mayor. The more people who speak in favor of
legalizing ferrets the better. Please dress nicely and treat the Mayor
with respect at all times. No one will listen to hostility. If possible,
bring a written copy of your statement to leave with the Mayor as well as
any other information you'd like him to review. A good public turnout is
important for this hearing. Please be there even if you don't plan to
speak. As always leave the ferrets at home! They will be confiscated if
you bring them with you!

Date: THIS Monday, May 21st, 2001
Time: 11am
Location: The "Public Hearing Chambers" at City Hall

*Call (212) 886-3700 or check the NYC Ferrets website the day before the
hearing to make sure the information above has not changed.

Both Mary and me will be there to see what happens (hopefully ferret owners
will make such a positive impression on the Mayor that he changes his
mind). If Mary is allowed to speak as an expert on ferrets, she will be
prepared.

We also have a copy of the points against ferrets that the Mayor faxed to
each City Council Member before the vote. I will try to get a copy of this
information up on the web site before this weekend so that New Yorkers can
try to address these points when they speak.

It is very important for New Yorkers to put their effort in here - if the
Mayor passes the law, then the ferrets are victorious. If the Mayor vetoes
it, there could be a very difficult road ahead.
