I've had the same e-mail address for over ten years now on AOL, and
I'm simply not willing to give it up for what amounts to a small
inconvenience. I like AOL's GUI for mail. I have other accounts I
can use, but prefer the convenience of AOL.

BTW--I'm hardly a "novice". Until I made a change this past July, I
had spent about six years as a programmer analyst and web designer,
creating web based applications and GUI's for an international Fortune
100 company.

[Moderator's note: And, clearly you're not alone in your feelings, since
we have 499 AOL subscribers. Many people make an educated choice to use
AOL knowing its advantages as well as its limitations. I do get upset,
however, when I hear about people not getting mailing list e-mail (not
only the FML) that they have REQUESTED because AOL wants to decide for
then what to deliver.

Again, I'm not saying people shouldn't use AOL if they prefer to use it,
but I do suggest having a spare e-mail address (e.g. gmail, yahoo etc.)
in case you ever need a backup address. BIG]
