Lorraine Tremblay wrote that her ferrets don't seem to like the high-
protein treats such as chicken or turkey baby food.

One thing about ferrets, Lorraine, is that they are alot like kids. They
don't often want to try anything new and don't realize they'll like
something until they try it.

Generally, if you put a dish of baby food down for them, they'll sniff and
walk away. However, if you put a small amount on your finger and gently
touch your finger to their mouth, they will instinctively lick it off -
after you do this a few times, you shouldn't have any problem convincing
them to eat it on their own right out of the dish.

Two things about baby food: 1) Use Beechnut rather than Gerber if you can
find it - Gerber added onion and celery flavorings about a year ago and
*some* ferrets don't like it - Beechnut is plain chicken and broth. 2)
Always warm it up first - it's more palatable that way.
