It has come to my attention recently that there have been some false
rumors regarding our LOS Shows and I would like to clear them up.
 
1. LOS uses a parvocide at every show.  Our paravocide may include
Rocal, Vircon, Kennel Clean.  We use a disinfect which kills bacteria and
most viruses this includes using Odo Ban and a 1% bleach solution.  Our
judges disinfect between each ferret and to fail to do results in their
dismissal.  The judge are provided plastic aprons to wear so that if they
should have the ferret lean against them, they can wipe off the apron.
We use spray bottles or treated non perfumed baby wipes.  The judge's
wipe the mats off in the judge's area.  They are also provided santizer
if they would like to use that in addition to our solution for santizing
in between ferrets.
 
2. All ferrets are health checked which means not only is paperwork
checked but also the ferrets are check for fleas, ECE, common cold, flu,
etc.  Each checker has a sheet of which they use to check off as they go
to ensure all aspects are reviewed.  Also this same form must be signed
by the exhibitor acknowledging their ferret is in good health and able
to enter the show hall.  Our health checkers santize between each ferret
and also are provided with aprons to wear.
 
3. LOS does not have open play pens for ferrets to roam free in.  LOS
wants to keep our shows as safe as possible for all ferrets in the hall.
We do not provide a play pens for the public.  Each shelter who is
looking to place ferrets may use their own playpen but it is not open
for public access.
 
4. LOS has fun games of which each item used such as baskets, scale,
etc., are santized between each ferret.  Paper Bags are not reused, they
are thrown out.  The table and space around it are cleaned and santized.
 
If any of my staff are in violation, please let me know.  We are always
trying to improve and make sure that your ferret's risks are as minimized
as possible.  With every show we are implementing new ways to ensure your
ferret's safety to the best of our ability.  Exhibitors are asked to
santize between handling ferrets to minimize your ferrets risk as well.
