[Moderator's note: Sukie notes (in a separate note) that this is a letter
which Alicia received from AVAR. Since it mentions things like AVAR
opposing legalization of ferrets in CA and why (bad opposition for
ferrets), as well as them opposing sterilizations by lay-people (good
opposition for ferrets) Sukie and Alicia thought that others would want
to see it. She is forwarding it with permission. BIG]

>Dear Alicia:
>The AVAR has filed a complaint in NY and MN against ferret breeders who
>sterilize them using laypersons. We have also exposed this industry
>through articles we have done in the past. We were opposed to CA
>legislation to legalize them, fearing they would end up in shelters. You
>might write to the NY veterinary licensing department and ask what they
>are doing about the complaints filed against Marshall Farms. We will help
>where we can.

>Thanks.
