Augie, who's 8+ with cardiomyopathy and a slew of meds that have seemed to
be managing it, quite suddenly has decided not to eat. Over about half a
day she gradually narrowed her acceptable intake down to water licked off
her favorite plant in the yard. Perhaps she's 'had enough' and is checking
out and hard as that is to face we need to honor her decision. but she
doesn't seem to be in pain, nor is she listless (a bit weak after 36 hours
with no food and only the injectable meds). The vet didn't assess her as
'checking out' and she's seen the vet 3 timesin 2 days. The approach of
food just seems to send her into a real panic as if we were trying to burn
her nose, and she certainly has strength to fight for her position.

With a shot of valium to calm her down, the vet was able to inspect her
mouth and found no problems and the vet was able to syringe feed her some
AD, and show us how it's done. She's willing to swallow what you can
actually get into her mouth. but i now have a lovely "AD T-shirt" for my
own only semi-successful efforts. But i have lots of t-shirts for the
cause. Output system is working, tho' slowed to match the input.

Has anyone seen this phenonmenon? circumstances? prognosis? ideas?

Donna
