We are pleased to report that Dr. Mike Staitman, corporate veterinarian
for PETsMART, has been working with their buyer to remove inappropriate
ferret foods and treats from their stores, including those with fruits
and veggies, and high levels of sugars. They are also looking for
healthier products to replace them.

Since PETsMART is a large corporation, changes will take time, and while
some are being removed shortly, it may be some time before most "bad"
products are removed from shelves.

It was because of our promising conversations with Dr. Mike that we were
encouraged to talk with other retailers about the ferret product lines
they carry. We are hopeful that we can prevent the unwitting ferret
owner from buying products of poor nutritional value simply because
they say "Ferret" on the label.

If enough of the major retailers do not carry these products,
manufacturers will be forced to produce better ones.

Thank you Dr. Mike!
