Ferret Fun

I just got the cage I ordered from That Pet Place today. It took me about
an hour to assemble but it is THE BEST ferret cage I have ever seen on the
market.

The instructions were a trifle hard to understand, but the cage, once
completed, far outdid my expectations!

It has two ramps, and even came with carpet for the levels. The only thing
I need to change is the bottom of the cage. It9s solid metal, and I am
going to add some linoleum so the ferret is more comfortable. You can tell
that the manufacturers knew about ferrets, though, because there wasn9t any
grating on the bottom!

The dimensions of the cage are a foot and a half by two and a half feet by
three feet (tall). (That9s 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 39.) With the two ramps and
levels it is a roomy three level cage. The ramps are metal mesh-type
material but the mesh is close together, and the ends curl up like little
bannisters! It9s really a cute cage with room for at least one ferret
(probably more like two or three!). The cage comes in two smaller sizes
than this and one larger size, and in colors red, green, or black. The size
I purchased was less than $80! The brand is Prevue. I DID NOT like the
fact that it was 3/42 x 1 3/42 grating, because I have heard ferrets can
escape from that small of an opening. Has anyone had any experience with
that?

Other than that (which may be a biggy!) I really recommend it!

You will need to ask for 3Reptile and Small Animal Catalog2 because they
make about half a dozen catalogs for different types of animals.

I hope this helps any of you out there looking for that perfect cage!

E-MAIL:
Also, I was recently asked by an FMLer about the message that appears after
my posts to the FML. It says something like "for your free web-based
eMail..." Actually, I don't type that -- it just automatically is typed.
But this is a good place to go if you want to keep your FML coming at a
different eMail address than the one you already use, or whatever. I use it
because I wanted to have eMail and don't want to fork out a lot of money to
have the service. I hope this helps anyone who was curious.

NYLABONES:
An FMLer gave me a answer about the Nylabone thing (I can't quote your
letter unless you give me the okay). He said that they are fine for
ferrets, and that his buried the Nylabone in the yard.

A Nylabone sounds like a great toy for a fuzzie, and when I get my ferret I
will be sure to let her have the one I purchased. I thought they were safe
from a book, but wanted to make certain that they are.

Well, I guess that's it for now. Bye from me and Pepita Pew (even though I
don't have her yet, at least she has a name and a cage!).
