Reading the post about the potato thief reminded me of my two, Ko Ko and
YumYum. Whenever we bring groceries home, they have to explore through
them.

As soon as the bags hit the floor and we yell, "Bags for the babies", our
two ferts are there, Jonny on the spot! Now I know it is their inate
curiosity that brings them into the bags in the first place, but what is it
that makes them dig and growl at any veggie in sight?

It has got to be the dirt. Carrots, potatoes, onions, and their personal
favorite, mushrooms all bear teeth marks if I don't get them put up in time.
Now if I wash one off and offer it to them, I am given the most filthy look
you can imagine! I have just removed what they were after in the first
place. Good old fashioned dirt. <sigh> Somehow they can smell the dirt
residue on the veggies. They will even bypass the bunch of bananas to get
to them! Now THAT is serious!

Brought home asparagus today. They both just had to crawl into the produce
bag and inhale the lovely aroma. They got the goofiest look on their faces.
(I wonder if asparagus is used in any illegal drugs?) Silly ferts...
