Mike and Yuki,

I had a ferret who was operated on last year for adrenal problems, and the
left one was completely taken. However, the right one looked funny as well
so HALF of that was taken. Claudia has recovered very well and not shown
any other symptoms of adrenal problems. I don't know if this answer helps
you -- I know there are others who have had both glands completely removed --
but it's an option you may want to explore.

Now to Sneakers' problems with the litter pan. Have you looked into the
possibility of either a bladder/urethra infection or bladder stones? Any
ferret who is whimpering while in the litter pan should have the whole "uro"
area checked out. It's simply not normal. Claudia has also spent her whole
life dealing with bladder stones, and when she starts whimpering, I get her
in for surgery, because if a stone gets stuck, she could be in big trouble.

But I would also ask about urinary tract infection.

Please remember if they remove Sneakers' spleen, you will have to carefully
watch any colds or infections she may get and treat them promptly. I had a
friend who lost a ferret a couple years ago because he had gotten ill and
she had forgotten his spleen gone.

Good luck!

Amy & Dave (and their gaggle of giggling ferrets)
RIP Ian and Elektra
