My husband and I caught the new Bond film over the weekend - "Casino
Royale" - a sort of prequel to the other Bond films. In an early scene,
there's a "cobra / mongoose" fight that people are betting on (I think
it was suppose to be in Madagascar). We were a little surprised, and my
heart sunk a bit when we saw that it was actually a domesticated, sable
ferret that was suppose to be a mongoose. I don't think the cobra and
ferret were actually together in the scenes, (computer tricks), but
nevertheless, I don't like to see domestic ferrets used in that
context. Bond was in the arena watching, but the cobra/mongoose(ferret)
scene ended, (no attacks, no blood), as Bond ran after a "bad guy". Of
course, the proverbial disclaimer at the end credits, that no animals
were harmed in the filming of this movie. : )
