Statistically, that's true.  However, if you have the money for it,
getting even a bald tail checked out is worth it.  Even if it's just
blackheads, your vet can prescribe something like Pyoben or OxyDex to
help.  But your vet can also do other tests which may point to adrenal
disease.  For instance, adrenal males often have enlarged prostate
glands, which can leave telltale traces in the urine.
 
I just had two adrenal ferrets treated whose only external symptom was
bald tails, and I *may* have one or two others in the same boat now.
