RE: Burial?

To the person who asked about what to do with a beloved pet, in this case
a ferret, I have the following suggestions, and would love further opinions
and comments pertaining.

I have a ferret and 2 parakeets, and I love them all, and when they finally
depart this world, I've seriously considered having them mounted by a
taxidermist.

Now I know this may sound morbid, and I'm still wondering about it, but
I think it would be much nicer than just pictures on the wall of them.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not some nut from "psycho part 242", and I'm
not gonna' be petting them like they are still alive and all, and it's not
like they're still there, it's just their physcial remains, and I could
always take them with me if I moved.

I'm a profound believer in keeping something from those loved ones who've
passed on, such as a piece of jewlery, and alike, and I always keep a
momento so as to never forget special loved ones and/or special moments.

It would have to be a natural looking pose and realistic looking so as to
do honor to my beloved pets.

I could never see doing this to large pets as the cost and room it would
take up, but I can't see the harm in it for small pets.

I don't think it would dis-honor any of them in anyway, and it's much more
appropriate than a headstone or marker in some field or yard, especially when
neither would be the place where they spent their lives growing, playing, and
living.

I can understand I'll probably get some flak for this post saying how "sick" or
"morbid" it is, but let's face it, when anything dies, the spirit leaves, and
the body just decays anyhow. I'd much rather have the last memory of a ferret
that cheered me up when I was blue, slept at my feet when I was sick, and
was always happy to see me when no one else was, or the parakeets that would
sit on my shoulder and watch westerns with me, no matter how many times I'd
already seen it, and never complain at all, always close by to remember, and
not buried by some marker out in a field somewhere or in the yard of a home
where I no longer lived.

Any other comments or opinions?
