I have a question about feeding my ferrets. I have an eight week old
ferret, a two year old ferret, and a four year old ferret (this one may
be older - she's a rescue). They all sleep together, eat together, etc.
My concern is for my oldest. They all eat the same food. It is a kitten
chow that has 35% protein. I was reading that older ferrets can be put
on CAT food because they don't need as much protein anymore and that the
high protein is actually bad for their liver. OK, all you multiple ferret
owners out there - when you have more than one ferret and there is an age
gap, what do you do about the food? My eight week old definately needs the
high protein! However, if I put a separate food dish out with cat food in
it, who says just the older one will eat it? Also, I can almost guarantee
that my older one will refuse it. She is one of those fussy eaters that
likes what she has now (I tried mixing food before and she picked out HER
food only!). So, if I leave my elderly one on the food she loves, is it
really going to harm her? Suggestions????
