We have one of those places with an open foyer which has stairs with
open railings that wrap around into the living room. My husbands
solution was to cut thin boards to fit each section, punch holes in
them and attach them with the plastic cuffs to the rails. This way the
kids can have access to all levels and I don't have to worry about
anyone going over the edge. He also numbered them when he removed them
because they had to go in a certain order. When we decided to adopt
again he was able to quickly put them back up.
