Here's my tried and true method:
 
Grind the pill into a powder and put in a small bowl.  Add a dollop of
NutriCal (or whatever their favorite treat is), add enough water just to
cover it.  Dissolve in the microwave, stir to mix it and make sure it's not
too hot.  Mine love it.  They can't taste the medications (even prednisone).
Just don't put too much water because you want them to drink every drop.
My vet has told me that heating the meds doesn't hurt them at all.
