All the vets I have gone to over the years in the Madison, Wisconsin
vicinity wipe the table down between patients.  I can't always attest to
whether or not they wash their hands since I am not present when the animal
before mine is checked.  The vet I take my ferrets to puts a clean pad on
the examining table for her ferret patients.
